Selenium is a potent antioxidant and a friend of Vitamin E. As an antioxidant, it helps fight cell-damaging free radicals in your body. Free radicals are unstable and reactive compounds that can be produced naturally, or as a result of external factors like air pollutants and smoking. Free radicals cause a disruptive chain reaction that ultimately disturbs the normal operations of a cell. As a cofactor for certain antioxidant enzymes, Selenium helps neutralize free radicals. It also helps recycle Vitamin E for additional antioxidant support.
