Cod liver oil and fish oil are rich sources of the essential omega-3 fatty acids DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). Cod liver oil is also rich in natural vitamin D and vitamin A. DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and to normal vision.1 DHA and EPA contribute to the normal function of the heart.2 Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal brain and eye development of the foetus and breastfed infants.3 Furthermore 2 g of DHA and EPA combined contribute to the maintenance of normal blood triglyceride levels.4
